What's the Interview Like?

What’s the interview like? The interview usually takes about 90 minutes and uses your answers on the application as a jump-off point.

The purpose of the interview is to help see if this volunteer opportunity is a good fit for you right now, so we usually cover why you’re interested in the program, what your experience working with teens and children has been, any parts of your personal history that might make it difficult for you to work with youth who have experienced neglect and abuse. It’s also a good opportunity for you to ask questions about our program that you’re curious about after the Info Session.

If the interview goes well, you’ll be accepted into our training program and receive our 30 hours of expert training. We hold these several times a year, both in Milpitas and Gilroy on weeknight evenings with one Saturday training. Your training may be coming up soon or you may have a month or two between your interview and the beginning of training. Learn more about what’s covered in the training here.
