Wonderful 2nd Annual Quinceanera Held
Quinceanera Event

Milpitas, CA, October 25, 2007 --

Child Advocates hosted its second annual Quinceanera at the Mexican Heritage Plaza on September 22nd. Not even the light drizzle could dampen the enthusiasm as eight girls celebrated their Quinceanera, an important Latina tradition for 15 year old girls.

With friends, family and Advocates looking on, the girls began the evening with a brief ceremonial blessing. The girls, wearing elegant Quinceanera gowns and tiaras, were then escorted into the reception area, which was transformed into a starry night. Following a traditional waltz, everyone enjoyed dinner and dancing.

The Quinceanera was the culmination of months of planning by Child Advocates staff, Advocates, community members and the girls themselves. One honoree expressed her delight by saying, "I never thought I would have my Quince. You made my dream come true."

Vickie Scott Grove, Interim Executive Director for Child Advocates, noted, "Far too often, children in foster care miss these childhood milestones. I am thrilled we were able to give the girls this gift of a Quinceanera."
